Greetings Programs,
The mighty Flagpole has reviewed our little old "Paper Dolls EP". Check out the review to see if the answers to life's enduring questions are finally revealed like, "Can you really put Ranch dressing on everything?"
In the meantime, we are busy little bees preparing for the release show on the 23rd. The new songs are coming togehter quite handsomely and we are stoked to unleash them upon the Earth in a little over a week. Like the old saying goes, "Time flies when you're generating synth tones." Keep a look out for some upcoming Orkids features in rad publications near you in the coming weeks. More details to follow...
In the meantime, keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for a Strongbow!
End of line.

The Orkids on PasteMagazine.com
Greetings Programs,
The fine folks at Paste thought enough of our little band to offer the "Paper Dolls EP" as their VIP Bonus Album Digital Download of the Month available now on their website PasteMagazine.com. This is considered by us to be completely rad and we couldn't be more stoked! Thanks to Paste for the luv.
In completely unrelated news, Adam, Sandra and I are going to continue our Star Trek: The Next Generation marathon because we can't quite get enough of how badly the Starfleet uniforms fit the crew of the Enterprise, especially in the bathing suit area. Peoples' special parts are definitley split and displayed in a way they shouldn't be, even in the 24th century!
Gotta' run, but remember, check out Paste Magazine and if you absolutely have to wear a Star Trek uniform, you might want to considering wearing a cup.
End of line.

And so it goes...
We were just in the lab laying down some trax for the still untitled new song. Things are progressing quite nicely. We've generated a pretty rad synth tone that we have aptly nicknamed "The Duck" and Adam and I, shoulder pads and goggles in check, continue to draw inspiration from "The Road Warrior". As we feast on Brad's birthday cake we will continue to burn the candle at both ends in hopes that the tune will be muscular enough to debut at the CD Release on the 23rd of January.
Keep fighting the good fight and we'll see you on the other side!

A Super Dope Holiday
While Santa is slaving away in his workshop, The Orkids are busy in the lab putting together some fresh tunes. If you've happened to be at one of our recent gigs you might have heard live versions of "I Told You So", "A Refuge", and "Social Heroin". We are putting the finishing touches on these trax as well as a brand spankin' new song that no one has heard outside of the band. The new goodies should be baked and smothered in synthy goodness by early 2010, so stay tuned as we will surely have something special planned as we send them off into the big, bad world.
We wish everyone a safe, super dope holiday and keep checking back for updates.
Cheers,
Josh Maximum

Tasty, Tasty World.
The Orkids' last show of 2009 tonight at Tasty World, Athens! 10pm sharp. $5 18 and up.
This is our last chance to bond before the CD release on January 23, 2010 at the 40 Watt in Athens. Thanks again to Troy and Mercer for adding us at the last minute and giving us the chance to keep our live show momentum. It's been an amazing 4 months for the band and we'll be tearing up the stage tonight to show our gratitude.
Come early for us and stay late for Come What May and Ocean Is Theory. We'll be hanging out by the merch table (or bar) after to get your email and sell CD's. As a personal token, I'll buy a beer for the first 5 people to shake my hand and give me the secret passphrase, "good seeding".
Say it proud.

ON THE AIR
Happy December, everybody! Before I hit the woodshed, I wanted to post this cool little laptop video we synched with the final mix of Rock 100's "Outside In" show featuring...us! We recorded at Full Moon Studios in Watkinsville last month and Adam, Sandra and Josh were interviewed a couple weeks ago by the fine peoples of Rock 100 in Athens. Jay and Lisa put together a nice package of interviews and live tunes and sent us the final mix yesterday. It sounds great - thank you guys. We're stoked to be on the radio. It aired today and should be on through most of the weekend as we approach Tasty World on Monday night.
So here's a taste synched with my Macbook video for visual aid at a staggering 7 frames a second in low light. I actually kinda dig it's low-fi-ness....
I'm off to rehearse solo - never nearly as fun as a full gathering - for a big day tomorrow. Sheldon and I head to Athens to meet up with the band and have a breakfast pow-wow. We've confirmed our CD release for Saturday, January 23 at the 40 Watt in Athens and we're floored by the opportunity. Troy Aubrey of Nomad Artists is working his magic for us as we think of ways to make this a special (and hopefully well promoted) night. We want to bust out of the New Year rocking like a new decade should rock. Josh might even say it will be "super dope".
After the meeting, we head to the campus TV studios where WUGA will be broadcasting us live at 4pm to Channel 15 on campus in tandem with radio station 97.1FM for the "It's Friday" show that features local and national acts in and around Athens. You are encouraged to stop by and support our first live TV experience - here's the info on facebook. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=337873215690
Oh - and we play our last Athens show of 2009 on Monday at Tasty World at 10pm. Thanks again to Troy and Mercer for allowing us to keep our chops up before the holidays set in. More info on that this weekend.
We couldn't be more stoked for all of this. Super stoked.
So that's why I have to run and practice and think about what I'm going to wear tomorrow. Wish us luck. Or leg-breaking. Whichever is appropriate, I suppose.
